Updates and Recommendations

I haven’t been doing much of my own writing on my cozy mysteries this year but I have been doing a lot of reading and even have a movie to recommend. My cozies that are already published include three novellas in one book called “Too Nosy To Retire — Texas Series” and one novella out of three planned called “Too Nosy To Retire — New Mexico.” They are available as kindle downloads on Amazon for $1.99 to $2.99.

My New Mexico series has working titles and story lines but I haven’t been finishing that series due to a quite busy 2021 so far. The first story in the series, “Deadly Desert Dealings” introduced us to Ambrosia and Twila, two feisty seniors living in a mobile home park in the Chihuahuan Desert. Their adventures continue in “Cross Country Capers” where they set off on a road trip to Galveston Island, make new friends and solve a murder or two. In the final story, “Mysterious Mobile Home Manifestations,” the gals must decide if a long unsolved murder has other worldly explanations. My hope is that these two stories will be published to join the first story by the end of 2022.

In the meantime, if you have Kindle Unlimited, you will be pleased to know that the Garden Girls 23 book series is completely free. I have read about four of these so far. I did get a little side-tracked with another free series on Kindle that is not in the cozy genre but quite tame and met my standards for a good story without unnecessary language, sex, or violence. This series is the Faith McMann trilogy by T. R. Ragan, following a fourth grade teacher who must recruit her own force of private citizens to save her children from traffickers.

Finally, I saw a movie that I was quite impressed with. Although not a cozy mystery, it is based on a true story and reminiscent of Cheaper by the Dozen or Yours, Mine, and Ours. I found this movie for free on my Hoopla app, which you can access with your library card. It’s called Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio and features winning performances by Julianne Moore and Woody Harrelson. The story was so amazing that I had to read about the real family after watching the movie.

If you have a favorite cozy series you think should be profiled in a blog, drop me a line. Keep reading and enjoy the rest of your summer.
